HELP!! PIllowcase Patrol

This year, the charity we are raising money for is the Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma. Our event is the Coats & Clark Pro-Am Sewing Exhibition on Sunday morning. We have paired the biggest sewing stars in the industry with some local Rookie sewists -- and it will be exciting to see the projects they've been working on.

ALSO -- for the children of Mary Bridge -- we will be collecting finished pillowcases during all 4 days of the show. Think about how much comfort a colorful pillowcase, lovingly made by YOU, could bring to a sick child. This would be a wonderful way for you to whittle down your own fabric "stash"...

Or, this might be just the excuse you need to do some FABRIC SHOPPING...

Of course, for those of you who are into machine embroidery -- you could always embroider some "words" on the pillowcase. This is what the Holiday Inn is putting on their bed linens nowadays. Fun, eh?

Or -- hey -- just pick some of your favorite embroidery designs -- and HAVE A BALL...

Although we are not officially associated with the Million Pillowcase Project -- if you click on this hyperink -- you will find many free patterns.

Every woman who makes a pillowcase will receive a free gift from our charity sponsor, Coats & Clark. However -- since many of you are making dozens of pillowcases -- I don't know how Coats & Clark intends to handle that. But I don't think they planned on anybody getting 100 spools of thread...lol...I'll be writing more about that in a future post. It might be fun if you got a "ticket" for every pillowcase -- and, at the end, there would be a GRAND PRIZE DRAWING...
then -- the more pillowcases you brought -- the better chance you'd have to win -- right?

I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED...

In the meantime -- START TO SORT YOUR FABRIC STASH -- and think "child's pillowcase"...

  2. We're having every kid in our 4-H club make a pillowcase for this event. They are really excited about it, especially since four of them are part of the Pro-Am Show.

  5. What a wonderful way to give some love to the kids! I will be visiting the mentioned site for the patterns and would consider it a privledge to contribute to this cause!
Not that it influences my decision to contribute, but I think the idea of a entry ticket per pillowcase for a prize drawing would add to the fun! Especially if the prize would help 'feed the fabric stash'!
Keep up the good work, Rita, I look forward to each blog post!
